TOKYO, Japan – Topcon Corporation (TSE 7732), a leading provider of robotic medical devices and software solutions for the global eye care community, is pleased to announce Ali Tafreshi has been named CEO and President of Topcon Healthcare, Inc. In his new role, Mr. Tafreshi will maintain the company’s focus on improving healthcare access, cost, and quality by delivering AI-powered solutions using the vendor-inclusive, secure, and connected platform – Harmony.

Having worked in eye care for over 20 years, Ali has extensive and diverse expertise in stimulating innovation and product development. “With longstanding collaborations with leading institutions throughout the world, Ali provides a bridge between scientific rigor and clinical practice,” said Robert N. Weinreb, MD, Chair and Distinguished Professor of Ophthalmology, University of California, San Diego. He transitioned from academia to industry when he joined Heidelberg Engineering, where he had several roles, including Global Head/VP of Product Management and Clinical Affairs. He most recently served as Topcon Healthcare’s Chief Officer of Strategy, Innovation, and Clinical Development. In that role, he was responsible for the strategy to drive digital health solutions using Harmony.
